The top picture is the perfect style of coilover to use with the caster camber plates. You do not need to buy upper spring perches and you will not loose any suspension travel.

The middle coilovers could loose some travel because you adjust the height by lowering the lower spring perch. The damper body does not thread deeper into the lower bracket like the top picture. These are my coilovers and I did not loose any travel because the height happen to be right where I wanted it with the lower spring perch threaded up to the bottom of the spring. If I wanted to slam my car, I would loose a bit of travel. It would have to be really dumped before the travel would become an issue.

The bottom coilovers need the upper spring perch. Notice the spring rests right under the strut top. Chances are, if you have a pillowball, you do not need the spring perches. If your strut top looks like the stock tops with a rubber pushing, you will need an upper spring perch.
